Backpacking Route
  • Día 1 - Rutas Las Flores y almuerzo en Juayúa (mañana) - Ascenso a Cerro Cuyanausul y Cerro El Cachio (1:30pm) y acampar en Centro de Visitantes del ANP Laguna de Las Ranas
    • Set up camp in the scenic countryside, surrounded by lush hillsides and picturesque landscapes.

Backpack Trip Description:
 
Experience the beauty and adventure of El Salvador during our 7-day field trip from October 11 to 18. Our journey begins with travel and a stay in San Salvador, followed by a day of reviewing plans and preparing gear in Ataco. The adventure kicks off with a backpacking route that takes us through breathtaking landscapes:
 
Day 1: Explore Rutas Las Flores and enjoy lunch in Juayúa in the morning. Afternoon ascent to Cerro Cuyanausul and Cerro El Cachio, camping at Centro de Visitantes del ANP Laguna de Las Ranas. Distance: 6 miles.
 
Day 2: Continue the ascent to Cerro Laguna de las Ranas and Cerro El Águila in the morning and midday. Lunch in Los Naranjos before traveling by 4x4 to Parque Nacional Los Volcanes (Sector Los Andes) for camping. Distance: 9 miles.
 
Day 3: Early morning ascent to Volcán de Santa Ana or at 7:00 am, followed by a descent to Cerro Verde Street and closure at Lago de Coatepeque. This day features the highest elevation at 7800 ft and a distance of 8km from Los Andes. Departure is early to catch the sunrise at 4 am.
 
On Day 6, we'll distribute filters along the coast, staying somewhere in the picturesque area of El Zonte. Day 7 will be a day of rest. The trip concludes on Day 8 with our journey back home.
